Short answer: yes. She worked at the white house from 1995-1996. That was almost 20 years ago….so why is Lewinsky relevant now? Despite the fact that she was at the heart of a huge scandal that rocked the nation; she is being brought up in a new/old light: to shame Hillary Clinton. Clinton is rumored to be running in 2016, against Rand Paul. Paul is going the “classy” route and reminding the nation that while in office Bill Clinton took advantage of an intern. Sadly, this incident is getting more press coverage then needed. Paul hinted that he thought that Bill’s affair would be a problem if Hillary became president.
“If (Democrats) want to take a position on women’s rights, by all means do. But you can’t do it and take it from a guy who was using his position of authority to take advantage of young women in the workplace,” Paul said this past weekend on C-SPAN’s “Newsmakers” program (taken from CNN.com).
Does Paul think that Hillary and Bill are the same person? Him implying that Hillary can’t make her own decisions is more sexist then anything Hillary (or the Democrats) could say or do. Hillary has her own opinions and she can figure out how she feels about any issue with or without her husbands opinion, we are past the 1950s, women are no longer “just pretty faces”. I think that by saying anything about Lewinsky it shows how nervous he is now; two years before the race. Hillary does not deserve to have her husbands infidelity thrown back in her face, because it will not impact her theoretical future presidency. So, Rand Paul, what are you so scared of? Because going on the attack this far in advance is really suspect.
